Frequently Asked Questions

Everything You Need to Know

Common questions from founders about how we work and what to expect.

  • Generalist firms can find someone with a relevant job title. We can find someone who understands the tradeoffs between latency and model size, or who has built a sensor fusion pipeline under real constraints. That technical depth means shorter shortlists, fewer wasted interviews, and engineers who are still there two years later.

  • Our core focus is computer vision, AI hardware and ML infrastructure, embedded software and firmware, optical systems, and robotics. We also place adjacent roles including Applied ML Scientists and VPs of Engineering. If you're not sure whether we're the right fit for a specific role, a 15-minute call will tell you.

  • Seed through Series C deep tech companies building physical AI products: autonomous systems, computer vision applications, robotics, and intelligent hardware. We work with a small number of companies at a time to ensure real bandwidth for each engagement.

  • Most agencies optimize for volume. We optimize for signal. Every candidate on a shortlist has been assessed for technical depth and role fit, not just job title. We take on fewer searches so we can do each one well.

  • Typical timelines vary by engagement type:

    • Retained search: Deliver an initial shortlist within 2 weeks of kickoff. Time to close varies by role and talent market

    • Executive searches: Around 6–10 weeks depending on the role and market

    • Fractional Head of Talent:  Usually operational within 2 weeks of kickoff

  • Yes - the Fractional Head of Talent offering includes headcount planning strategy, hiring process design, interview structure, and candidate pipeline strategy in addition to active search. We can also do standalone consulting on building your internal recruiting infrastructure if that's more useful than an active search at this stage.
